OUR IMPACT IN NEBRASKA
At Morning Sky Acres, we are committed to responsible ranching practices that support both our local community and the land we steward. We believe in providing sustainably raised products that not only nourish families but also enhance the health of the soil, pasture, and environment for future generations.

ENCROACHING CEDARS
Eastern Redcedars are spreading rapidly across the Great Plains, threatening native grassland ecosystems. Their growth leads to declines in bird populations, reduced stream flow, loss of native plants, and challenges for pasture-raised livestock.

At Morning Sky Acres, we’re proud to join the effort in Nebraska to restore the 350,000 acres of grassland that have been overtaken by these trees, helping to protect wildlife, preserve water resources, and maintain healthy pastures.

CULTIVATING COVER CROPS
At Morning Sky Acres, we use cover crops to nurture the land and support sustainable farming. These crops help:
By integrating cover crops into our operation, we’re promoting a healthier ecosystem while raising high-quality beef responsibly.

WETLAND PROTECTION
Wetlands are vital ecosystems found throughout Nebraska, yet only 65% of the state’s wetlands remain intact. At Morning Sky Acres, we are committed to protecting and restoring these essential habitats.

In 2019, we expanded our wetland and removed accumulated sediment, while continuing our regular efforts to manage noxious and invasive species. These actions help preserve biodiversity, improve water quality, and support the overall health of our land.
By carefully managing when and where our animals graze, we:
ROTATIONAL GRAZING
At Morning Sky Acres, our rotational grazing system uses a diverse mix of forage — including cover crops, legumes, cool- and warm-season grasses, and corn stalks — to provide year-round nutrition for our cattle.
Control invasive grasses
Support pollinators and wildlife
Improve soil health and fertility
This sustainable approach ensures healthier pastures, thriving ecosystems, and nutrient-rich beef.
